From film screenings on Lopud Island to the world-famous Dubrovnik Summer Festival, summer in Dubrovnik offers an inspiring programme for business guests and incentive groups. The city and its surroundings transform into a vast open-air stage where art, music, theatre, film and cultural heritage come together. This is precisely why summer festivals provide event organisers with an excellent opportunity to offer participants authentic supplementary programmes, extend guest stays or create unforgettable experiences beyond conference halls.

From late June through to early autumn, Dubrovnik and the island of Lopud host events that attract international audiences, renowned artists and culture lovers from around the world.

Midsummer Scene Festival – English-Language Theatre at Lovrjenac Fortress

The cultural summer begins from the 24th of June to the 5th of July with the Midsummer Scene Festival, Croatia’s unique English-language theatre festival. Set within the spectacular Lovrjenac Fortress, this year's programme presents a new production entitled One for All, inspired by the legendary story of the Three Musketeers. This year's premiere brings a witty and energetic theatrical adventure seen through the eyes of an ageing D’Artagnan, who finds himself imprisoned alongside a group of failed actors and attempts to revive memories of the time when he first met Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Through a series of comic twists, improvisation and sword fighting, the performance combines adventure, humour and theatrical playfulness.

The stage at one of Dubrovnik's most famous historic landmarks offers a unique experience for international visitors, while the English-language production makes the festival especially attractive for participants attending international congresses and corporate events. Alongside the main production, the programme also includes additional cultural events such as a monodrama dedicated to Dubrovnik scientist Marin Getaldić and the presentation of the English translation of Marin Držić's Grižula, further connecting local heritage with international audiences.

Ponta Lopud Film Festival – A Blend of Cinema, Art and Inspiring Networking

From the 25th to the 28th of June, the island of Lopud once again becomes a hub of cinematic creativity during the sixth edition of the Ponta Lopud Film Festival. Over the years, the festival has built a

reputation as one of the Adriatic's most distinctive cultural events, bringing together acclaimed filmmakers, actors and creatives from across the globe.

This year's programme includes screenings of award-winning and internationally acclaimed films such as “Bob Marley: One Love”, “Close”, the cult classic “Cinema Paradiso” and the Croatian film “Koke”. A special highlight is the documentary “Ennio”, dedicated to legendary composer Ennio Morricone.

The festival will conclude with a grand concert in honour of Morricone, performed by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and international musicians. Visitors will also be able to view the exhibition Nomadia, which will be displayed throughout the summer in the former Hotel Pracat.

For business event organisers, Ponta Lopud provides an excellent example of how a congress or incentive programme can be enhanced with an exclusive cultural experience on an island located just a short boat ride from Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik Summer Festival – The Cultural Highlight of the Season

The city's largest and most famous cultural event, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, will take place from the 10th of July to the 25th of August. For 77 years, the festival has been one of Europe's leading site-specific cultural festivals, transforming Dubrovnik's squares, palaces, fortresses and historic venues into extraordinary performance stages.

This year's edition is inspired by the theme “Northern Lights”. During 47 festival days, audiences can enjoy more than 70 performances spanning drama, music, dance, visual arts and other cultural programmes. More than 2,000 Croatian and international artists will participate.

Particular attention will be drawn by performances from world-renowned musicians including violinist Joshua Bell with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, French pianist David Fray, soprano Pretty Yende and many others. The drama programme includes new productions of Marin Držić's “Skup”, Shakespeare's “Richard III” and Ibsen's “The Lady from the Sea”, while audiences will also be able to revisit several acclaimed productions from previous seasons.

For business visitors, the festival offers the opportunity to experience world-class art within the authentic setting of a UNESCO World Heritage city, creating memorable moments that often become the highlight of a business trip to Dubrovnik.

Park Orsula – Concerts with Dubrovnik's Most Spectacular View

Throughout the summer, the “Summer at Orsula” programme attracts attention with more than twenty concerts and cultural events staged at one of Croatia's most impressive open-air venues.

Located above Dubrovnik among the remains of the 14th-century Church of St. Orsula, Park Orsula offers breath-taking views over the city, Lokrum Island and the open Adriatic Sea. The programme features performers from a wide variety of musical genres, ranging from rock and pop to acoustic and electronic music, attracting both domestic and international audiences.

A special part of the programme is the Sunset Shows, which bring an additional dimension of entertainment and creativity through performances by international street artists, acrobats and performers.

For incentive groups and corporate guests, Orsula represents the perfect venue for informal evening gatherings, networking events or a relaxed conclusion to a conference day.

A Cultural Season That Continues into Autumn

The cultural calendar does not end in August. The creative platform Ponta Lopud continues its programme with the Ponta Lopud Jazz Festival from the 27th to the 29th of August, followed by the literary event Ponta Lopud Book Bridge from the 17th to the 19th of September, extending the season of high-quality cultural events well into autumn.

This diversity of events further confirms Dubrovnik as a destination that offers business visitors far more than outstanding meeting and conference infrastructure. The combination of historical heritage, unique venues and a rich cultural programme enables event organisers to create more meaningful, inspiring and unforgettable experiences for participants from around the world.
