DUBROVNIK CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

The Dubrovnik Tourist Board in cooperation with the City of Dubrovnik is once again organizing a series of events to mark International Women's Day. From March 7th to 10th, the city will come alive with the event "Gourmet Days – Women's Day", in which Dubrovnik's restaurants will offer visitors an unforgettable gastronomic experience with special, exclusive menus. In addition to the culinary offerings, a musical delight is organized at the Marin Držić Theatre on March 8th, featuring a concert by Marko Škugor. The revenue from ticket sales for the concert will be donated to Deša Association.

International Women's Day is dedicated to commemorating and celebrating women throughout history and in contemporary society, as well as their contributions to various fields.

In addition to the "Gourmet Days" and concert, the Tourist Board of the City of Dubrovnik is also organizing thematic city tours titled "Scent of a Woman" on March 2nd, 8th, 9th, and 10th. The tours will take place on the specified dates at 09:30 in English and 12:30 in Croatian, with prior reservation via email: [email protected] or by phone: +38520312011. These unique tours will provide insight into Dubrovnik's history through the often-overlooked but significant contributions of women. Lectures will focus on the rich and centuries-old history of Dubrovnik, highlighting the challenges in uncovering traces of women's contributions. Throughout Dubrovnik's history, women have often been marginalized, confined to roles within the family, convents, or arranged marriages, and have suffered various forms of abuse. Therefore, these tours will be a tribute to all the women from Dubrovnik's past whose lives, although often unrecorded, have left a lasting mark on the city's history.
