The Cosmopolitan Dubrovnik - Thematic city tour
Once a Roman Catholic city where only Roman Catholics could live (and Jews with special permits), today Dubrovnik is a truly cosmopolitan city. In the heart of the historic center, in the immediate vicinity, you will find Catholic churches, of which the cathedral is the most important, an Orthodox church, a mosque, and one of the oldest active synagogues in Europe.
How have different (although very similar) religions marked the history of Dubrovnik, which religious groups inhabited the territory of the Republic of Dubrovnik, and whose traces can us find in Dubrovnik today?
Strolling through the tiny, only 3,9 hectares historic center, we will learn about religious tolerance and coexistence in Dubrovnik over the centuries.
Thematic city tours will begin at 9:30 am in front of the Tourist Information Center at Pile Gate, in English 🇬🇧, and at 12:30 pm in Croatian 🇭🇷, led by expert guides Lidija Begić and Vesna Barišić.
