FOUR DAYS OF DUBROVNIK CARNIVAL – 5 to 9 February
FOUR DAYS OF DUBROVNIK CARNIVAL – 5 to 9 February
The majority of the program of Dubrovnik’s four-day carnival is dedicated to children and  youth, however, the tradition of the feast of the last day of the carnival and the costume  ball and the impatient expectation of individual and group costumes, which probe current  political and social events – has been maintained up until today, and everyone impatiently  awaits.....

This year the Dubrovnik Carnival is part of the Dubrovnik Winter Festival, an  event that encompasses a number of wintertime activities and attractions and that begins  at the end of November and ends with the carnival festivities. At the Dubrovnik Carnival  the most imaginative and the most attractive costumes will be rewarded from a rich award  fund because the jury will select the best at each of the costume balls and parades! This year's manifestation will take place within the scope of the events and celebration of  the Festivity of St. Blaise, and will commence on Friday, February 5th at 9:30 am with the  opening of ˝The exhibition of carnival masks, costumes, and photography˝ that was  prepared by the D'Art Association and that will be shown at the Tourist Information Centre  (TIC) Pile of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.

At 10 am on the same day, the City will be conquered by the little costumed people from  Dubrovnik’s preschools, who transformed into fairytale characters, will stroll down Stradun,  bursting with children’s laughter and joy.  In the evening a costumed party ˝Maskarata ispod  kuplja˝, which by its title brings association with the tradition of Dubrovnik costumed  parties, will take place at Lazareti and the entertainment will be provided by the Porporela  Sex Band.

Saturday will be a great opportunity for both small and big to dress up as their favourite  characters and come to Stradun. The group ˝Magazin˝ will hold two concerts, one in the  morning at 10:30 am and one in the evening, starting at 9 pm, creating excellent  entertainment for all ages and all those who love to dress up in costume and to stroll along  the most beautiful street in Dubrovnik – Stradun – will come into their own.

The third day, on Sunday, February 7th, the children’s event ˝Faćenda od malih maškara˝,  with the participation of preschool-aged children and costumed families, will of course take  place on Stradun at 3 pm and the fun will continue with a party in Lazareti.  Monday is a  costumed school day with parties for the youngest, intermediate, and oldest school children,  while the ultimate party will take place on the last day of the carnival season, on Tuesday,  February 9th.

Dubrovnik will bid farewell to the carnival season with the last big party ˝Ultimi od  karnevala˝ held in Culture Club Revelin, where a selection of the best costumes and music  provided by the group ˝Teatar˝ will provide entertainment until morning.
