We invite you to Easter in Primorje - Weaving palm fronds, decorating eggs, homemade products, biking, and hiking tours
Next weekend, on the 23rd and 24th of March 2024, the City of Dubrovnik, together with the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, is organizing another "Easter in Primorje" event. The rich program in the villages of the Dubrovnik hinterland will include musical performances, traditional rural games, workshops, a sale of homemade products, a race, as well as hiking and biking tours, with free transportation provided by the public bus company Libertas.
The program begins on Saturday the 23rd of April at 9:00 am with the "On the Paths of our Ancestors," featuring a 16-kilometre biking tour from the village of Mrčevo to Gornji Majkovi and back to Mrčevo, as well as a 7-kilometre hiking tour from Mrčevo to Mravinjac and back, with professional guides as well as transportation provided. Prior registration is required to participate in both these events.
At 10:00 am an 8-kilometre race will begin from Mrčevo to Riđica and back to Mrčevo, co-organized by the Dubrovnik Triathlon Club.
From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lokva (pond) in Mrčevo, there will be a special sale of authentic homemade products, palm leaf fronds, Easter bread (pinica), decorated eggs, honey, olive oil, wine, vegetables, and carob. There will also be a workshop on making this traditional Easter sweet bread called “pinica” and decorating eggs, along with a competition for the most beautiful painted egg. Musical and dance performances by the folklore ensemble “Linđo”, vocal group “Klapa Subrenum”, and Cultural Association “Marko Marojica” will add to the atmosphere.
On the second day, the 24th of April, on Easter Sunday afternoon from 3:00 pm, there will be the Village Games at Osojnik, featuring traditional games for children, women, and men, such as sack races, egg-and-spoon races, tug-of-war, all accompanied by DJ Vjeverica. The event will conclude with an award ceremony and entertainment by the band Viva.
During this and the following two weekends, rural households in the villages of the Dubrovnik hinterland will provide a special gastronomic offer as part of another edition of Easter in Primorje.
