Camino Dubrovnik is a new pilgrimage and cultural-tourism route connecting Dubrovnik and Međugorje, offering a unique experience of walking through the nature, heritage and spiritual tradition of southern Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The route was officially opened in March 2026 and is available to all pilgrims, hikers and lovers of active holidays.
Camino Dubrovnik is approximately 145 kilometres long and is divided into seven daily stages, adapted to walkers of varying levels of fitness and experience. The journey begins at the Church of St. James in Dubrovnik and ends at the Church of St. James in Međugorje.
The route is completed over approximately seven days of walking, 3.5 days through Croatia and 3.5 days through neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Along the way, pilgrims pass through Dubrovnik, Dubrovačko Primorje, Ravno, Neum, Čapljina and Čitluk, crossing diverse landscapes, from the Mediterranean coastline and stone villages to the hills of Herzegovina. The trail is marked with the recognizable Camino signage, allowing for safe and easy navigation in the field.
Camino Dubrovnik is part of the large European family of Camino routes and is a member of the European Federation of Saint James Way. In doing so, the route joins the network of paths inspired by the famous pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, one of the best-known pilgrimage destinations in Europe.
The Camino, or the St. James Way, has a tradition spanning more than one thousand years. Today, it represents a blend of spiritual journey, personal challenge and sustainable tourism that connects people, culture and nature.
In addition to its spiritual dimension, Camino Dubrovnik contributes to the development of active and sustainable tourism, the promotion of natural and cultural heritage, the connection of local communities along the route, and the creation of a new international hiking and pilgrimage experience.
By linking historic Dubrovnik with one of the most famous Marian shrines in this part of Europe, the route offers an opportunity to all those seeking peace, challenge and an authentic walking experience, step by step through a landscape of sea, stone, faith and tradition.
For easier navigation and trip planning, the official Camino Dubrovnik application is available, providing participants with trail navigation, information about stages and points of interest, useful advice for pilgrims, and important service and logistical information.
