Organized by the representative office of the Croatian Tourist Board in London and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, a unique sports and tourism promotion of Croatia and the City of Dubrovnik was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, starting at 5:00 p.m. The promotional event, in the atmosphere of the World Cup, was attended by over 20 prominent editors, journalists and TV presenters who enthusiastically supported the performance of the Croatian national football team in the semi-finals as well as the destination potential of Croatia and the city of Dubrovnik, leading players on the British tourist field welcomed signs of growth in the coming period.
Following the opening speeches of the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Great Britain, HE Igor Pokaz, the Director of the Croatian Tourist Board in London, Darija Reić, the Director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, Miro Drašković, and the Deputy Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik, Jelka Tepšić, who highlighted the prominent tourist advantages of the City of Dubrovnik, which with its recognition dictates the game on the competitive UK market and contributes to a more dynamic positioning of Croatia on the British Isles. The event was further enhanced by representatives of Dubrovnik Airport.
Darija Reić further emphasized the importance of the continuous growth of Croatia's visibility with the British public. She also noted the confirmation of the destination's leading tourist placement is reflected in the excellent media response of Sky News and BBC TV presenters, editors and journalists of the most widely read newspaper The Daily Mail, the prestigious Times, Guardian, Condé Nast Traveller, the Independent and many others that are breaking reading records across the Atlantic: "The traditional annual media gathering in London attracted the biggest names again this year, which shows the strong interest of the British media in our destinations and their support for our efforts in positioning Croatian tourism on the international tourist market and the image of Croatia as a top tourist destination.''

 

Miro Drašković, the Director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, emphasized the value of the event in presenting the unique content and quality of the pearl of the Adriatic, which is ready to make a point in the new tourist year and confirm its position as the Croatian leader on the British market: "For the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, the Christmas Party in the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in London is a valuable opportunity to present itself to the British market, the most important and traditionally the largest market for the city of Dubrovnik.
