Molunat is a settlement located in Konavle at the far south of the Croatian coastline.
It is 40 km from Dubrovnik and 20 km from Cavtat and the airport. The Molunat Peninsula together with the mainland encloses the Upper Molunat Bay in the southeast and the Lower Molunat Bay in the northwest. The Veli Škoj islet protects the Upper Molunat settlement from strong south winds. The name Molunat is derived from the Illyrian-Greek word meaning port. The region of Molunat rebounds in underwater and mainland archaeological sites. The Dubrovnik Republic fortified the region of the Molunat Peninsula in case of danger. Today, you can still see remnants of the ramparts and fort.
