In cooperation with the largest Luxembourg tour operator, Luxairtours, the Croatian National Tourist (CNB) Representative Office for the Benelux countries, the Zadar County Tourist Board and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board held a presentation on January 24 before more than 130 travel agents from Luxembourg and the surrounding countries, such as Germany, France and Belgium.
During the presentation, news from Croatia and the rich tourist offer of Zadar County, the city of Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik-Neretva County were presented. During the presentation, special emphasis was placed on the introduction of the euro as the official currency in Croatia, on the sustainable development of Croatian tourism, as well as on Croatia's entry into the Schengen area, the idea of which was "born" precisely in the Luxembourg town of Schengen, which is located on the very border of Luxembourg, Germany and France and from which the agreement got its name.
After the presentation, a social gathering was organized with some of the traditional Croatian specialties, and the travel agents present showed great interest in Croatian destinations for the upcoming season and confirmed generally good bookings on the market. By the way, the national air carrier Luxair connects Luxembourg with flights to Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik from April to October, and the hotels in the mentioned regions that Luxairtours offers are mostly family and club type of higher category.
In Croatia, in 2022, over 10,000 tourist arrivals and 50,000 overnight stays from Luxembourg were realized, which is 10 percent less than in 2019. Although Luxembourg has only about 650,000 inhabitants and its area is smaller than, for example, Istria, it is the richest country in the European Union and one of the richest countries in the world. The capital of Luxembourg, which bears the same name as the country, is also a regional centre, to which the population of the German provinces of Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate, the Belgian region of Wallonia and the French region of Lorraine gravitate.
