'DIY' workshops for adults / 9.2.-1.3.2024.

During February and March, from February 2 until March 1, 2024, every Friday afternoon we organize DIY workshops with the aim of educating participants and promoting recycling, repairing and repurposing objects.  The culture of repair was extremely widespread in Croatia and Yugoslavia, as a social phenomenon that has its roots in the era of non-consumer society, and which lost its popularity with urbanization and the development of consumerism.  Nevertheless, today we are becoming more and more aware of the importance of reducing the waste we create, and one of the ways is to repair or repurpose the items we own.  "Older people" will remember that once, in the 70s and 80s, the magazine "Uradi sam" was published in Yugoslavia, while younger people will be more familiar with the acronym DIY from various YouTube channels.  As a tribute to that magazine, we named our workshops "Do It Yourself", and what better way to spend February in Dubrovnik mastering new and old skills.  This year, we are learning the basics of sewing and the basics of electricity at 4 workshops.  All workshops are free, the number of places is limited to 15 (for sewing) and 12 places (for electricity), and registration is mandatory at [email protected].

We organize the workshops in cooperation with the Technical Culture Association Dubrovnik / DNŽ Technical Culture Association Dubrovnik under the leadership of Tea Dilberović, IT club Futura (electricity)  and with the guidance of Carmela Grgurević, FilluArt (sewing)  and with financial support:
