From the 24th to the 28th of April 2025, Dubrovnik will become the centre of the international academic community as it hosts the General Assembly of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). This is the organization's largest statutory event, bringing together 154 representatives from national branches across 45 countries in Europe and beyond. The ESN General Assembly is held twice a year, with the spring session being particularly significant as it includes the election of the organization's new International Board.
During the four-day event, representatives from all active member countries will discuss the future of the organization, analyse past activities, and share best practices in areas such as social inclusion, student mobility, and active participation in local communities. This gathering also fosters connections among volunteers and strengthens collaboration between ESN member organizations.
Dubrovnik as the Perfect Host
The organization of the ESN General Assembly is led by ESN Croatia with support from local sections – ESN Dubrovnik and ESN Split. Special support is provided by the Student Council of the University of Dubrovnik, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, and the University of Dubrovnik, which will open its facilities to the participants. This collaboration further highlights Dubrovnik as an ideal destination for international congresses and academic gatherings.
An Opportunity for Dubrovnik to Promote ESN’s Values
The Erasmus Student Network is known for advocating inclusivity, intercultural understanding, and international exchange. Through collaboration with Croatian universities and other stakeholders in higher education, ESN helps foreign students integrate into local communities through social activities that enrich their stay and bring them closer to Croatian culture.
Hosting the ESN General Assembly in Dubrovnik presents a unique opportunity to further position Croatia as an international hub for academic cooperation. Participants will have the chance to explore the city’s rich history, enjoy its natural beauty, and experience the hospitality of the local community. With this event, Dubrovnik once again proves itself as a destination that blends tradition and innovation, inspiring young leaders from around the world.
