Orlando Furioso is a new event in the city that will take time from 6th to 16th of June 2017 at two locations - at the Rector's Palace and at the Museum of Modern Art.
Orlando Furioso - Baroque music cycle
It is a cycle of baroque music organized by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. Through its four concerts, the orchestra will enrich Dubrovnik's cultural offer with its program. Music Director of this cycle is Dmitry Sinkovsky, world star of baroque violin, conductor and contratenor. This multitalented Russian virtuoso in the world is known precisely for performing baroque music.
At the first concert on June 6th, Sinkovsky will lead the DSO String Chamber Orchestra performing the great work of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi: Four Seasons. Throughout the seasons, we will be guided by the narrator Mark Thomas.
Then, on June 10th, we will hear the masterpiece of H. Purcell, opera Dido and Aeneas, one of the saddest antique stories about the love of the Queen of Cartagena and the Trojan Hero performed by the DSO String Quartet and the Antiphonus vocal ensemble, under the leadership of maestro Tomislav Fačini.
On Tuesday, June 13th at TRIO SONATAS concert will be performed the works of D. Castell, B. Marini, J.M. Leclair, A.Vivaldi and G.F. Händel, while on June 16th Dmitry Sinkovsky will conduct the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and as a soloist will perform the talented young pianist Marin Limi. The program includes pieces of J.Ch. Bach and W.A. Mozart. While we will have the opportunity to hear
the soloist in Beethoven's Concerto no. 3 for piano and orchestra in C minor.
