At the Seatrade Cruise Global fair Dubrovnik was named ˝Best local initiative winner˝ by the British Cruise Insight magazine for the global cruise market. According to Cruiseline.com (http://cruiseline.com/advice/awards/members-choice/2017-members-choice-awards), where passengers from cruise ships share their impressions and complete a questionnaire, Dubrovnik was announced as the best cruise destination in Europe for 2016. This is great news coming from the largest trade fair for the cruise ship industry which the Dubrovnik Tourist Board is attending in cooperation with the Port of Dubrovnik. At Seatrade Cruise Global, the world's largest trade fair for the cruise ship industry, which is being held from March 13th to 16th in the United States in Fort Lauderdale, four Croatian ports, Dubrovnik, Rijeka, Zadar, and Split, are being presented together under the unified title ˝Croatian Cruise Ports˝. This joint appearance at the cruise fair features representatives of ports and port authorities, the Dubrovnik Tourist Board and the Tourist Board of Kvarner, and representatives of travel agencies that deal with cruises.

From a small gathering of 150 leading industry figures in a conference room in New York in 1985 to more than thirty years later, Seatrade Cruise Shipping Miami (now Seatrade Cruise Global) has grown into a four-day event with 11,000 participants, 699 exhibitors at 350 stands, where 73 countries are represented, and the fair visited by more than 300 international journalists from media organizations of various profiles.

This trade fair is the epicentre of the world's cruise business and the only annual event that brings together all participants in the cruise industry. It should be noted that destinations for cruise ships are presented at the fair by cities, tourist boards, and government officials, in order to improve and exchange experiences.

Director Romana Vlašić is representing the Dubrovnik Tourist Board at the Seatrade Cruise Global fair where Dubrovnik was awarded ˝Best local initiative winner˝ by the British Cruise Insight magazine for the global cruise market. According to Cruiseline.com (http://cruiseline.com/advice/awards/members-choice/2017-members-choice-awards), where passengers from cruise ships share their impressions and complete a questionnaire, Dubrovnik was announced as the best cruise destination in Europe for 2016.

During 2017 Dubrovnik expects 577 calls and about 760,000 cruise ship passengers, which compared to last year is 11 percent less calls and about 9 percent fewer passengers. The daily number of visitors from cruise ships is limited to 8,000 people, while in 2017 there were two days that that exceeded the planned limit of 8,000 visitors, 12 May and 13 October.
