Dubrovnik Musical Spring 2019
The Dubrovnik Musical Spring is a classical music festival that has been hosted by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra (DSO) since 2017 with the support of the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board. This year, the musical cycle will run from the 12th of April to the 31st of May, and will include eleven concerts, and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will be led in the safe hands of its chief conductor, maestro Marc Tardue. In the rich program it is definitely worth pointing a guest performance by one of the favourites of Dubrovnik audiences, the pianist Jasminka Stančul, who will open this musical cycle on the 12th of April, and bring to the city the music of the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Visitors to Dubrovnik will also be interested to see and hear the duo “Margo” with the guitarist Goran Perišić and violinist Marko Simović. This unconventional duo will take the audience on a musical tour on the 14th of May with the works of H.V. Lobos, A. Piazzolla and B. Bartok. The DSO will return to Mozart again on the 17th of May with a concert with the maestro Đana Kahriman when we will listen to concert for the violin and orchestra no. 3 in G major.Luka Ljubas is the first Croatian to win first place at the prestigious violin competition Vaclav Huml, and along with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and maestro Marc Tardue he will perform on the 24th of May Bruch's Concert for violin and orchestra in g minor. And so that the younger generations can also enjoy classical music the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra has prepared a family concert on the 28th of May. This unforgettable performance will see the orchestra perform music from the fairy-tale Peter and the Wolf. The performances will be preceded by the Mozart serenade Little Night Music, and the aim of these concerts is to bring classical music closer to children. The musical cycle will end with a performance by one of the most talented young Chinese violinists and the first violinist to perform in the Antarctic, Dan Zhu, while the orchestra will be conducted by the famous maestro Uroš Lajovic. The entire program is available at the DSO website - www.dso.hr
